When it comes to Group 1s only for three-year-olds, it is bloodlines that make the difference between success and failure, and the best mares are in the hands of only a select few owners. 

The evidence for that is clear in this year’s 2,000 Guineas, in which four of the top five in the market will be sporting the colours of the powerhouses Juddmonte, Godolphin or Coolmore.

Juddmonte have been the ones to hit the ground running this year, dominating the Classic trials. They landed the Nell Gwyn with Zanzoun and plundered both key spring prep races for colts, taking the Greenham with Jonquil and the Craven Stakes with Field Of Gold.
