Can Regal Envoy continue his rich vein of form by winning another series qualifier?

This valuable series has helped bring sprints at Windsor to life. There are ten qualifiers, run over 5f and 6f, building up to the £75,000 final in August and this is the fifth in that sequence.

Many of these sprinters will be working their way back from the final and Regal Envoy has the profile of a candidate for that. He finished first and second in the two qualifiers staged in May, although he is unraced on ground slower than good to firm at the track. An easier surface may bring Regal Envoy's old foe Woolhampton closer.

These horses are among the oldest in the field and there are a few younger potential improvers to consider.

The speedy Law Of Average could yet rate higher. He won three of his past five handicaps in 2024 and one of the defeats came when he was 20lb wrong at the weights in Epsom's Dash. He forgivably failed to make all in the Temple Stakes on his return and drops in class.

Well-regarded three-year-old Adrestia has also run in better races than this. After finishing midfield in the Queen Mary, she was sent off favourite for her final four starts at two. One of those was in a conditions race and another at Listed level.

Handicap debutant Miraculous, also of that age, is another noteworthy runner on this first attempt at 5f. The son of Too Darn Hot has been gelded since his last start on the all-weather four months ago and his dam was a high-class sprinter on turf, winning the Temple Stakes in 2017.

Ground update

The going is good to soft, soft in places but is expected to dry back slightly before racing with sunny spells and 20C forecast on raceday.

What they say

Roger Teal, trainer of Rosario
Six furlongs on a galloping track at Newbury stretched him last time. If he gets back to the form of his Goodwood win he'd be in with a shout. I expect it will dry out a little, but good to soft would help us rather than hinder us.

William Knight, trainer of Regal Envoy
He's been very well at home and has a nice draw [stall one] so hopefully he can put in another big performance. He likes it at Windsor and Oisin [Murphy] gets on well with him. We wouldn't want soft in the going description so hopefully the ground dries out.

Chelsea Banham, trainer of Law Of Average
We need it to dry out as he prefers better ground. He won around here last year and I definitely feel there's more to come from him this season.

Eve Johnson Houghton, trainer of Change Sings
He's holding his form well and is in great order so I'm very hopeful. His best form is on good ground or better so I would prefer it to dry out, but he's a big, strong horse and should be versatile.
