Michael O'Sullivan remains in intensive care with no change in jockey's condition, says IHRB

Michael O'Sullivan remains in intensive care at Cork University Hospital, with a statement reporting no change in his condition on Saturday following a fall at Thurles ten days ago.
O'Sullivan was airlifted to hospital after his mount, Wee Charlie, fell at the last in the 2m handicap chase, in which two other horses fell and two more unseated their riders in the incident. The meeting was later abandoned due to insufficient medical cover.
On Tuesday, the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board (IHRB) released a statement on X, which said O'Sullivan "continues to receive the best of care in the intensive care unit at Cork University Hospital".
It provided a further update on Saturday morning, confirming that there has been no change in his condition. The statement read: "Michael's family remain by his bedside at Cork University Hospital and continue to be very grateful for all the support which they are receiving.
"There is no change in Michael's condition today and any updates will be communicated on behalf of the O'Sullivan family by the IHRB."
O'Sullivan, 24, is one of the rising stars of the Irish weighing room having enjoyed a breakthrough Cheltenham Festival success in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle aboard Marine Nationale in 2023. He also won the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at the same meeting on Jazzy Matty for Gordon Elliott.
The jockey split from Marine Nationale's owner-trainer Barry Connell in November but was still competing regularly at the highest level and scooped another significant prize on January 1 aboard Embassy Gardens for Willie Mullins. He has ridden 14 winners this season and 95 in total over jumps in Ireland and Britain.
