Kyprios statistics entitle him to lofty perch among Aidan O'Brien elite but top stayer falls short of 'great' status

Aidan O'Brien describes Kyprios as “a great horse” and some statistics certainly entitle him to a lofty status among the trainer's long list of champions.
Of all O'Brien's Flat horses, Kyprios has the triple distinction of ranking first for Group 1 wins, total Pattern victories and longest winning streak.
The son of Galileo won eight Group 1 races, outscoring seven-time Ballydoyle Group 1 winners Rock Of Gibraltar, Yeats, Minding, Highland Reel and Magical. The top-level Flat record for a horse trained in Europe is 14 by Goldikova.
