Irish trainer hoping for another successful British raid on Saturday with 'genuine Group 1 sprinter'

Jack Davison is hoping She's Quality can gain a richly deserved Group victory in Saturday's Coral Charge and believes his rapid filly can evolve into a Group 1 contender this season after excellent runner-up efforts at Newmarket and Haydock, where she put up a career best when beaten half a length in the Temple Stakes.

The Meath trainer has crossed the Irish Sea to secure Group 3 honours before when Thunderbear scored at Newbury in 2023, a year when Davison had three winners from seven runners in Britain. She's Quality has standout credentials to repeat the feat and is heading the market at 7-2 with the sponsors.

A runaway Listed winner at Tipperary last year, the Acclamation filly has excelled in two starts this season, finishing second to Rumstar in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on her seasonal debut before running Mgheera close at Haydock despite having to make her challenge away from where the action was unfolding.

The form was granted a significant boost at Royal Ascot given American Affair, who finished fifth at Haydock, landed the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes under Paul Mulrennan.

Davison was naturally enthused by that performance and is confident she can put in a big display at the weekend to put her in the picture for Group 1s for the remainder of the campaign.

"All's well with her and she'll travel on Wednesday morning," he said. "It was a great run at Haydock, we were a bit gutted to get chinned but the draw probably cost us.

"I hold her in the highest regard and she's 100 per cent better now as a four-year-old, I think she can be a genuine Group 1 sprinter this year and hopefully we can take a step in the right direction on Saturday.

"I think Sandown will suit her, a nice, flat, fast track and she needs fast ground, while the pace of English sprints sees her to better effect. William Buick was brilliant on the winner at Haydock, but she was drawn in two and had nothing to take her a little bit further which may have been the difference, but I wouldn't take anything away from the winner at the same time."

Davison, who enjoyed his best season last year with 19 winners, has an excellent record with sprinters as he's sent out Mooneista, She's Quality and Thunderbear to be Stakes winners over five furlongs.

Last year's champion apprentice James Ryan has been jocked up on the four-year-old after riding her on both starts this season.

The Clive Cox-trained Kerdos, who finished fifth behind American Affair at Ascot, is next in the market at 11-2, while Palace Of Holyroodhouse winner Adrestia for Simon and Ed Crisford is priced up at 6-1. Rumstar for Jonathan Portman can be backed at 13-2.
