'If you take out their last runs they'd be half the price' - Ollie Sangster has full confidence in Coronation Stakes contenders

Ollie Sangster is under no illusions about the size of the task facing Flight and Simmering in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot but he believes they have outside claims if returning to the form they showed in the 1,000 Guineas.

Flight, who finished a length behind Desert Flower when second at Newmarket, is a general 14-1 shot for the Group 1 contest on Friday, while her stablemate Simmering, who was a further length behind in third, is a best-priced 33-1 with Ladbrokes.

Flight and Simmering were unable to back up their fine efforts in the British Classic last month as they were beaten into sixth and 11th respectively in the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh.

Sangster said: "I feel they realistically do have chances. If you were to take out their Irish runs, which didn't suit either of them, then they'd probably be half the price that they are. We're happy to put a line through those runs and we're looking forward to Friday.

"The race didn't go to plan for either of them. Simmering was drawn wide and raced without any cover, which is quite important for her, and the fractions didn't suit Flight. It was a very slowly run race and she's a big filly."

Both fillies have worked well since their recent outing and their trainer is excited to take on top-class rivals in the form of French 1,000 Guineas winner Zarigana and Falakeyah, who was supplemented on Saturday.

Sangster said: "We're happy with how they've both been training since the Curragh and hopefully they can bounce back to the form they showed at Newmarket.

"It's looking like an interesting race now with Falakeyah and Zarigana in there, but we're hopeful they can be in the shake-up."

Sangster's squad for the royal meeting will also include juveniles, and he added: "We have Bone Marra, who won on his debut at Wolverhampton and is declared for the Coventry, and Eternal Solace, who was fifth in the Marygate. We thought she was better than the form perhaps showed that day and she could go for the Queen Mary."
