Charlie Deutsch and Coral's James Knight also deliver their verdicts

What did you make of the Ascot Chase fought out by Waiting Patiently and Cue Card?
Jockey Charlie Deutsch I thought it was an absolutely brilliant run by Cue Card as he showed all his old zip and really tried his heart out. He was probably beaten by a very talented up-and-coming horse in Waiting Patiently, who looks good enough to go to Cheltenham next month, but that seems unlikely unless the ground is very soft.
Trainer Gordon Elliott It was a good effort by Waiting Patiently, who’s obviously an improving horse. He’s by no means certain to go to Cheltenham and maybe Aintree might be the place for him. You would have to admire Cue Card, who showed he retains plenty of ability.
Coral odds compiler James Knight It was good to see Cue Card running so well and in doing so silencing his doubters and those calling for his retirement. Waiting Patiently isn’t far off being the best chaser in training and he’ll be hard to beat wherever he runs next. I think he could actually prove to be even better on a sounder surface, and Aintree’s Melling Chase could be a perfect target for him.
