The old conundrum about the chicken and the egg will continue to vex philosophers, but we have the answer to the one about which came first, the horse or the book. Well, actually, they both did.
The book entitled The Detainee preceded the horse named The Detainee, and the five-year-old gelding came first at Windsor last month to complement victories at Chepstow and Yarmouth last summer. The common factor in both is writer Peter Liney, author of The Detainee, the first in his trilogy of dystopian novels, and member of the Crowd Racing Partnership.
