Blank weekend ahead but major progress made in attempt to end insurance crisis

For the second time this month, as the impact of the insurance crisis continues, those within the Irish point-to-point sector are staring into another blank weekend devoid of any opportunities to run their horses.

Having attempted to reshuffle the pack of fixtures, this latest blank weekend allows the industry time to consider how close we are sailing to a problem which would bypass the issues of recent years from Equine Flu, Brexit and Covid-19 in its ability to cease operations completely.

In saying that, like a well-timed challenge to get up in the shadows of the post, this week there has been a notable step forward taken on the insurance front, coincidentally in the very week that fixtures have run dry.
