'A Group horse in a handicap' - rising star trainer Tom Clover joins our panel
Tim Easterby, Michael Attwater and Eddy Greatrex also share their thoughts

What is your assessment of Alkumait’s 2,000 Guineas credentials?
Michael Attwater, trainer If I trained him, I’d be very happy! It was a great performance and he’d have to be on anybody’s shortlist for the 2,000 Guineas. He certainly looked like he’d get seven furlongs already and, another year down the line, you’d be hopeful he’d get a mile. He settled well and it all looked very natural.
Tom Clover, trainer I was very impressed with his win in the Mill Reef where he overcame greenness to run out a ready winner. He looks to have stacks of speed and with his pedigree you’d think a mile would stretch him. He may be more of a Commonwealth Cup horse.
Pat Cooney, bet365 He was impressive, beating good opposition and clocking a fast time, and deserves to be taken seriously. A mile may be the limit to his stamina which raises doubts over the Guineas. Thunder Moon looks the best juvenile so far, but it’s the type of year when something wins on the all-weather in the winter and we all get excited.
