The champion jockey who keeps getting better and better: just how good is Sean Bowen?

As the jump season gets fully under way, one jockey is the name on everybody's lips. After sealing the British championship for the first time last season, Sean Bowen has been in untouchable form ever since and his dominance on the track is so much that he has now scored on ten of his last 14 rides.
As the victories keep coming and the winning margin between him and his weighing-room colleagues grows, Bowen may be on his way to forming comparisons with the very best in jump racing history. Could he even be the next Tony McCoy? We asked the experts what they thought...
Sean Bowen's season so far
April marked the crowning achievement in Bowen's career when he was awarded the British jump jockeys' title for the first time at the end of the 2024-25 season. It was a euphoric moment 12 months on from his narrow championship defeat to Harry Cobden, and Bowen appears determined not to relinquish his title anytime soon with a blistering start to the new campaign.
