NTF warns failure to address uncompetitive racing will harm the industry

The National Trainers Federation (NTF) has warned that unappealing racing is "undermining the future of the sport and the businesses that depend on it" following the publication of the 2023 fixture list.
The new list, which features just four meetings fewer than this year despite concerns over race volumes and field sizes, was unveiled on Wednesday and was announced alongside increased minimum race values.
Following its publication, NTF president Ralph Beckett described the Racecourse Association as an "immovable object when it comes to progress", although RCA chief executive David Armstrong insisted that "smart adjustments" could still be made to the race programme.
