Wet weather in Britain and Ireland continues to threaten, but Warwick passed its raceday inspection on Saturday morning after a dry night. The forecast is for light, drizzly rain from 9am with 2-4mm falling throughout the day. The going is heavy, soft in places.

The eight-race card features the Bet Smarter With Oddschecker Kingmaker Novices' Chase and the Weatherbys Cheltenham Festival Betting Guide Jane Seymour Mares' Novices' Hurdle, which was moved from Sandown's abandoned meeting on Friday. The final hurdle in the back straight will be bypassed.

Clerk of the course Nessie Chanter: "It's going to be pretty testing. The majority of it is heavy, with a little bit of soft up the hill. We've done the best we can with the rails, but it'll be a proper stamina test.

"It's been a damp start and we've got drizzle now until 3pm. I expect we'll get between 2-4mm of rain."

At Newbury the track was declared raceable on Friday afternoon and after a largely dry night clerk of the course George Hill said on Saturday morning: "We're heavy, soft in places. The chase track is marginally better but not by much.

"We had a dry 13 hours overnight and then 1mm in the early hours. We're due 2-3mm this afternoon but that won't make a difference. Everything is being jumped and it's all set for a good day."

Uttoxeter, Exeter and Newcastle off; Navan inspecting

Saturday's meeting at Uttoxeter was cancelled on Friday due to waterlogging. Officials were scheduled to inspect at 1pm, but made the decision early as the track had deteriorated with no hope of improvement in light of the forecast.

Exeter's card on Sunday was also cancelled on Friday. Officials had called for an inspection at 4pm, but a decision was made earlier with the course waterlogged and further rain forecast.

The same day's jumps meeting at Newcastle was called off on Saturday morning due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Jane Hedley said: "It was a no-brainer. We had another 13mm of rain in the last 24 hours and it has been constant drizzle. It's totally saturated and there are false patches we can't get around. Even if it stayed dry for 24 hours, it wouldn't improve enough for us to race."

In Ireland Navan's fixture on Sunday, headlined by the William Hill-sponsored Boyne Hurdle and Ten Up Novices' Chase, must pass an inspection at 3pm on Saturday. The course was described as waterlogged on Friday morning following 35mm of rain in 24 hours.

Clerk of the course Brian Hamilton said: "The track is now unfit for racing due to waterlogging after we got significantly more rain than was initially forecast.

"The status yellow warning is to end at midday today and we could get a further 5-10mm of rain. However, from later today we do have a more favourable forecast and it is to be mainly dry and breezy tomorrow into Sunday."

In Britain an additional all-weather meeting at Chelmsford has been scheduled for Sunday in light of the forecast for the day's jumps fixtures.
