David Egan 'honoured' to have contract as Amo Racing's number one jockey extended until the end of 2028

David Egan is aiming to continue building "something special" with Amo Racing after his contract as first-choice jockey for Kia Joorabchian's Flat racing operation was extended until the end of 2028.
Egan was announced as Amo's number one in December 2023, replacing Kevin Stott, and has enjoyed a landmark year for the operation with Group 1 wins on Power Blue in the Phoenix Stakes and Arizona Blaze in the Flying Five.
Having had his contract extended until the end of 2026 in June, he has been given another vote of confidence by Joorabchian with a further two years added on.
Egan said: "I'm incredibly proud to extend my contract with Amo Racing. There's a long-term vision to build something special and sustainable, and I'm honoured to play my part in that journey.
"We've got a great team of people behind the scenes and a strong string of horses, so there's a real sense of excitement about what's to come."
Egan's other big wins for Amo this year include the Sapphire Stakes on Arizona Blaze, Phoenix Sprint with Bucanero Fuerte and Aylin in Doncaster's May Hill Stakes. He has also won a Lincoln and finished second on 50-1 shot Mojo Star in the 2021 Derby for the operation.
Joorabchian said: "Since David joined Amo at the start of 2024, he's become a key team member. His understanding, dedication and professionalism have been invaluable to our progress, and that momentum is something we're determined to continue."
Egan could top his fine season with Amo with up to five rides for them at the Breeders' Cup this week, with Arizona Blaze going for more glory at the highest level in the Turf Sprint (7.41) on Saturday. He also rides Outfielder for Wesley Ward in the Juvenile Turf (12.25) on Friday night.
His other mounts for Amo could be Valiant Force, who is first reserve in the Sprint (8.21), Hill Road in the Turf (9.41) and Cathedral in the Filly & Mare Turf (12.25).
Joorabchian added: "David is among the very best in the saddle, but it's his attitude, work ethic and the way he represents the team that truly sets him apart.
"Extending this partnership reflects our shared vision and belief in what we're building together. With a strong team developing around him, we're confident and excited about what lies ahead."
