Britain's racecourses said to be supportive of Lord Allen and awaiting governance proposals 'with interest'

Representatives of Britain's racecourses have maintained their silence over the upheaval facing the sport's governance following the Racecourse Association's (RCA) annual meeting on Tuesday.

However, sources have told the Racing Post the board is supportive of the BHA's intended new chair Charles Allen and is awaiting governance proposals from him "with interest".

Lord Allen was supposed to take up his new role at the governing body at the start of June, but it emerged at the end of May there would be an indefinite delay in him joining the BHA as he wished to "continue meeting stakeholders to better inform his vision for the sport" and he was looking forward to starting his new role "once these have concluded". It is understood Allen has developed concerns about the governance structure of British racing.
