Hong Kong racing tips: Jim McGrath with three selections at Sha Tin on Sunday

The best bets for Sha Tin's 11-race card

8.05 Sha Tin
2pts win

Silvery Breeze
8.40 Sha Tin
2pts win

Hong Lok Golf
9.15 Sha Tin
2pts win

John Size can continue his steady progression in the trainers' championship when saddling the talented Raging Blizzard in the TVB Cup (8.05) on another 11-race card at Sha Tin.

Twelve times Hong Kong champion Size started the season in typically slow style, but he now has his stable in cracking form and is firing in the winners at every turn. He sits in fourth in current standings, with 26 wins on the board, three wins behind title leader Danny Shum.

There is a real chance the Australian could be crowned champion again — he has the fire power, and now the momentum — and Raging Blizzard is just the type to keep him in contention into the second half of the season.

The five-year-old son of Per Incanto has an impressive 6-13 record, and he attempts to complete a hat-trick following victories over course and distance that have seen his official rating increase 16lb, setting him up for a first crack at Class 1 contest.

There is little doubt he has the ability to win again, and from stall six, Hugh Bowman will be hoping for a trouble-free run. At least with eight runners, he should not strike the clutter he might in a bigger field. His danger is another huge improver, the Francis Lui-trained Copartner Prance, the mount of Zac Purton.

Purton, on 82 wins, has ridden more than double the tally of Bowman, his nearest pursuer on 38, and he has several excellent chances to skip even further ahead, his best being the David Eustace-trained Silvery Breeze in the 1m1f handicap (8.40).

Silvery Breeze, who won a maiden in Australia for Anthony and Sam Freedman, made a big impression on his local debut when registering a shock win at 70-1.  He has since run creditably, his most recent third over a mile from a wide draw being an eyecatcher.

This first try over the trip should be ideal for the son of Dundeel, a proven influence for stamina.  His danger is the consistent Californiatotality, sent out by Tony Cruz, with bottomweight Legend of St Paul's another for multiples.

Trainer Chris So seems to regularly uncover a useful talent and four-year-old Hong Lok Golf is exactly that. The unbeaten gelding can make it three from three when lining up for the 6f sprint (9.15), in which he should easily handle the rise in grade.
