Free American football tips, best bets and analysis for Week Six of the 2021 season.

Entering Week Six, home comforts aren't quite as comfy as they once were in the NFL with away teams winning 41 of the 80 games played this season.

With that in mind, Chris Rivers has picked out four away teams for this week’s NFL accumulator, which pays out at over 8-1 with bet365.

Cincinnati Bengals -3 v Detroit Lions
Houston Texans +11 v Indianapolis Colts
Kansas City Chiefs -6 v Washington Football Team
Dallas Cowboys -3 v New England Patriots

All bets must be placed by 6pm.

Cincinnati Bengals at Detroit Lions

Both these teams suffered narrow defeats in Week Five but only one side looks capable of bouncing back to winning ways.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell was reduced to tears by their last-gasp defeat to the Minnesota Vikings as Detroit fell to 0-5 and they could still be wearing the scars of that loss. The Lions lost a couple more players to injury in that game and could be exposed by a Bengals side who came within one kick of beating the Green Bay Packers.

Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow has looked good this year, completing over 70 per cent of his passes to a stacked receiving core led by rookie Ja’Marr Chase, who took his fifth touchdown pass of the year last week. The Bengals defence is also performing well, ranking seventh in total defence (DVOA), and they should have too much quality for the Lions.

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

The Colts and the Texans clash in an AFC South divisional match-up off the back of gut-wrenching defeats. Indianapolis were beaten in overtime by the Baltimore Ravens as they fell to 1-4, the same record as Houston after their defeat to the New England Patriots.

There are more reasons to be positive about the Texans after their loss though as rookie quarterback Davis Mills performed well, as did their wide-receiver group.

Despite a team shorn of star quality, the Texans have been competitive all year and this fixture tends to be close with only four of the last 20 meetings decided by ten or more points.

The Colts have issues on defence and have a poor record at home, going 1-4 against the spread in their last five in Indianapolis.

Kansas City Chiefs at Washington Football Team

People seem ready to write off the Chiefs after they were taken apart by Buffalo in Week Five, dropping them to 2-3.

However that may be premature as they have been beaten by three teams at the top of the AFC in the Bills, Ravens and Chargers, and on another day they would have won the latter two of those games.

Kansas City are still averaging over 30 points per game, which is bad news for a Washington defence who have given up 31 points on average this year.

The Chiefs should have star receiver Tyreek Hill back in their ranks for this game and Washington could be on the end of a Kansas backlash

Dallas Cowboys at New England Patriots

The Cowboys are the only team in the NFL who have covered the spread in all five of their games this season and should do so again when they head to New England.

The Patriots have already lost three times at home this year, failing to cover in two of those contests. The only game where they did cover at home came in a rain-affected clash against Tom Brady’s Buccaneers.

The Cowboys are excelling on both sides of the ball right now, averaging 34 points per game on offence while proving stout on defence. They have the third-best points differential in the league and the Pats, who are scoring less than 20 points per game on average and have a defence that blows hot and cold, can’t be expected to keep pace with them.
