Match preview

All is not well with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Super Bowl champions two years ago, runners-up last year and pre-season Super Bowl favourites this year, the Chiefs have lost four of their first seven games – something few would have predicted.

However, there is still plenty of time in an expanded 17-game season, and they can even up their record with a home win over the Giants on Monday night.

The Chiefs lost an important game at Tennessee last week, but the AFC champions play five of their next six games at Arrowhead Stadium, which gives them an ideal chance to step up their game.

Their previous losses were to the Ravens, Chargers and Bills, all playoff contenders, so it’s not as if they have been losing to bad teams.

The Giants are 2-5, with their last win coming over a freefalling Carolina team, and their star running back Saquon Barkley has been ruled out again with an ankle injury.

This is a good opportunity for Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes to get back on track. The Giants’ offence has injury problems, while their defence is in the bottom ten of the NFL overall and has given up 14 TDs through the air.

The Chiefs are 6-2 against the handicap in their last eight games following a loss and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 Monday night contests. Take Kansas City to score a morale-boosting win.
