Canada v Cameroon

8pm, BBC red button

Cameroon were a surprise package at the 2015 World Cup but they are unlikely to start this summer's edition with a positive result against Canada.

The Indomitable Lionesses were third in the Africa Cup of Nations last year but their recent 4-0 hammering by Spain highlighted their struggles against stronger opponents outside their own continent.

Canada, 25-1 shots to lift the trophy, are a team to keep an eye on. They won bronze at the last Olympics and have a stalwart of the international scene in veteran striker Christine Sinclair.

They are also strong at the back, keeping seven clean sheets in their last eight games including shutting out Spain, England and Sweden. They can open their World Cup campaign with a comprehensive win.

Recommendation
Canada to win both halves
1pt 6-5 Betway

Key stat
Canada are unbeaten in their last eight matches.

Argentina v Japan

BBC2, 5pm Monday

Everything is weighted against Argentina going into this World Cup and merely appearing at the tournament will have been deemed a triumph.

Having lost all six of their World Cup matches, the Albicelestes qualified for France despite a two-year spell in which they didn't play a match following a battle with their national association.

They are understandably rated 500-1 shots for the title and could be seriously out of their depth against Japan, who have made the last two World Cup finals.

The Asian side's front two could make their presence felt early and striker Rikako Kobayashi may represent value to open the scoring, having netted against Brazil and France recently.

Recommendation
R Kobayashi to score first
1pt 4-1 bet365

Key stat
Japan have failed to score in only one of their last 12 matches.
