Chelsea's only obvious weakness was the lack of a top quality centre-forward and the addition of Romelu Lukaku looks bad news for Arsenal, who appear no nearer to solving their defensive deficiencies.
The Blues had gone 12 away games without a defeat before their 2-1 reverse at Aston Villa in May and they can take maximum points on their opening road trip of the campaign.
Arsenal to score under one goal
Arsenal have spent a lot of money on various areas of the squad but do not seem to be in the market for a top class centre-forward, which is strange because they are lacking at the top end of the pitch.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang notched just ten goals in 29 league games last term and is rated doubtful for the weekend after missing the 2-0 loss at Brentford. Alexandre Lacazette – Arsenal's top scorer last term – is a definite absentee.
Granit Xhaka to be booked
Arsenal are going to be up against it in midfield with N'Golo Kante set to return alongside Jorginho and the demands could be too much for Granit Xhaka, who is carrying a huge responsibility.
Xhaka had an excellent Euro 2020 for Switzerland but he is far from universally popular among Arsenal fans and may get himself booked by trying a little too hard to impress.
