b g Massaat (IRE) - Malmostosa (Intikhab)
Soon outpaced and detached, 15 lengths down 2f out, rapid headway from 1f out, went fourth post (inquiry held into running and riding; jockey stated his instructions were to ride gelding as he found him with no specific instruction being given by trainer; jockey explained that gelding had become restless in stalls, had broken just about on terms with field but that gelding was unable to go the strong early pace, having previously been running over 7f and 1m, and quickly dropping to back of field where he became outpaced; jockey added gelding felt unbalanced while outpaced on the undulations of the track and that he therefore needed to keep a hold of his head as much as possible while continuing to urge his mount forward; jockey further added he felt gelding would be better suited by a step up in trip to 6f in the future and that although he appeared to be picking up late on, he was in fact staying on while those that had gone very fast early on the front end were coming back to him as tired horses) (op 12/1)
