Top selections across the cards in Britain and Ireland

Catterick

6.40: Novamay

The shortlist is exactly that, with most yet to show any noteworthy form, and major question marks lingering for Sun Keeper. Novamay finished ahead of Lima Sierra at Ripon, so rates as the logical pick in a race which will take little winning.

Fontwell

7.20: Lightning Maqueen

Chicago Storm and Man Of The Sea (preferred in that order) both seem likely to be in the shake-up but the one with potential is handicap debutant Lightning Maqueen, who took a big step forward when placed in a recent course maiden and remains unexposed over hurdles.

Salisbury

4.30: Crepe Suzette

Quietness notched a win for the older brigade last season, and Azahara Palace looks the pick of the four contenders this time, but 3yos had been totally dominant prior to that and Crepe Suzette, who continued the progression when off the mark on Tapeta six weeks ago, is preferred. It's easy to pick holes in the recent wins of Schemaya, Patsy Snugfit and Tempted but the first-named may be next best.

Sligo

8.28: Al Arrivee

This is a good opportunity for Al Boum Photo's half-sister Al Arrivee who has had ample time to mature since her debut last autumn. Point winner Soldierstown could pose a threat on the strength of a good initial bumper run at Fairyhouse. Caillin Deas has plenty of experience and should make her presence felt if fully fit after a break. Crossbar Getaway can build on a pleasing effort on her first run for Gordon Elliott.

Wolverhampton

3.45: Pysanka

Southwell specialist Lednikov (second choice) is yet to win around here, but he could still be dangerous if left alone in front. The consistent Sea Of Charm should again run her race under these suitable conditions but if they do go a more even tempo this could be run to suit the five-time C&D winner Pysanka more than when he finished behind Educate here last time.
