Nap of the day: the best horse racing tips from the day's five meetings on Thursday, September 25

Listowel

3.25: Messerschmitt

Unlucky when a close third in a Galway handicap hurdle, with some of these behind, MESSERSCHMITT (nap) has since run a cracker on the Flat and can take this. Last Kingdom has 4.5l to make up on him but cheekpieces might help. Puturhandstogether was poor in the Galway Hurdle but is classy and has to be respected under topweight. The selection's stablemate Money Dancer has a shout, as do Shaboozee, Kool One and Day Trader.

8.00: Parish Councillor

Three-time C&D winner Martin's Brig (second choice) returns to AW following some good efforts on turf but PARISH COUNCILLOR (nap) is selected to follow up his Lingfield win and make it 2-2 for his stable. Coloane is now 5lb higher than when third here last time but may be happier returned to 1m.

Newmarket

3.00: Shallow

No shortage of pace on here and that will be of benefit to Arabian Leopard and especially Royal Velvet (second choice) who drops to 6f for the first time. Her York win was an improved effort and she should make a bold bid but it could be that SHALLOW (nap) reverses the placings. While Richard Spencer's filly likes to race prominently, she doesn't have to lead and she went through that York race like a filly who would be well served by today's return to 6f. Lady Roxby is best of the rest.

Perth

4.53: You Some Girl

The Flying Poet has obvious claims off the same mark as when chasing home a strong favourite at Worcester and drying ground would bring Gerrys Wish into the equation. However, YOU SOME GIRL (nap) got herself back on track at Uttoxeter and she's well in here, having escaped a penalty and with Charlie Maggs now able to claim his 5lb.

Pontefract

5.38: Havana Rum

Plenty to consider. City Captain (second choice) could well bounce back, while Loving Apprentice should give it a good go. However, HAVANA RUM (nap) is in the form of his life and can make amends for an unlucky second last time. Others who warrant respect include The Good Biscuit and Cairdeas.
