Nap of the day: the best horse racing tips from the day's five meetings on Thursday, July 31

Epsom

8.00: Uncle Simon

Miakoda will be popular as a last-time-out winner trained by James Owen but there are alternatives. Uncle Simon and Rajinoora arrive here after improved runs in handicaps and Jack Morland's three-year-old has the scope to improve some more.

Galway

5.40: Glenroyal

One who looks to have been laid out for this is Glenroyal, finishing strongly after not clear runs on both handicap starts at 1m1f and bred to relish this longer trip, being a brother to an Irish Cesarewitch winner, and now fitted with cheekpieces. Place claims are held by the likes of Enziya, Lagoon Nebula and Positive Energy. Second reserve Tassarolo is respected if getting a run.

Goodwood

3.45: Getreadytorumble

Being a course-and-distance winner who likely has further progress in him, Getreadytorumble is preferred. Ruby's Profit, another contender who has major claims back at Goodwood, is second choice ahead of The Man who won a competitive event in his sole start this season. Consistent Nad Alshiba Green is firmly in the mix, while a few others can also be viewed positively.

Nottingham

4.40: Regally Blonde

Chillhi (second choice) was a good winner over hurdles on Sunday and looks a potent force again, while Scudamore could have a bit more to offer in this sphere and Godstone may do better at this trip. However, Regally Blonde was clear with the runner-up when winning last time and that form has been franked.

Wolverhampton

5.45: Aberama Gold

Jack Nicholls takes a handy 7lb off Stanley Spencer's back and he could still have a bit more left in the tank. Intervention (second choice) looks set to go well from a good draw, while Noble Victory and Chuti Manika can also feature, but Aberama Gold is preferred. His York win this month was a fine effort and he should be able to secure a good early position from stall five. He's accustomed to tackling stronger opposition than this and is fully effective over this course and distance.
