Jannik Sinner v John Isner

Big-servers tend to prosper at Wimbledon and John Isner showed he is still capable of producing world-class performances as he overpowered Andy Murray on Centre Court in round two. The towering American may be able to utilise that weapon against Italian tenth seed Jannik Sinner, who may be at his most vulnerable on grass.

Cameron Norrie v Steve Johnson

Cameron Norrie showed great character to overcome Jaume Munar in five sets in round two, but the British number one may find things easier against Steve Johnson. The American outclassed Norrie’s compatriot Ryan Peniston last time out, but only once in 38 attempts has he gone beyond the third round of a Grand Slam.

Oscar Otte v Carlos Alcaraz

Grass may not be the optimum surface for Carlos Alcaraz but that didn’t stop him recording a straight-sets win over dangerous Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor last time out. Alcaraz dug deep to win in five sets against Jan Lennard-Struff in round one and, however it pans out against Oscar Otte, the rising Spanish star should prevail.

Nikoloz Basilashvili v Tim van Rijthoven

Tim Van Rijthoven has shown his grass-court title success on home soil in Den Bosch last month was no fluke and he can reach the fourth round at Nikoloz Basilashvili’s expense. Van Rijthoven has beaten Federico Delbonis and Reilly Opelka in London and overcame the likes of Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Daniil Medvedev when claiming that piece of silverware in his homeland recently.

Irina-Camelia Begu v Jelena Ostapenko

Many feel Jelena Ostapenko is a dark horse for Wimbledon glory this year and the Latvian can prove too good for Irina-Camelia Begu. Ostapenko is a former Grand Slam champion, having won the French Open in 2017, and she showed she is also supremely talented on grass when finishing runner-up at Eastbourne in the build-up for this year's third major.
