Angelique Kerber has had a disappointing year, dropping from number one in the WTA rankings to 12th, and she looks an opposable favourite at the Luxembourg Open despite being the only top-25 player in the field.

Andrea Petkovic was once ranked inside the top ten and looked in good nick at this month's China Open where she was a 6-4 6-0 victor over Kiki Bertens, who is the number two seed and her potential second-round opponent.
