Malta may have too much for group opponents Australia

Neil Robertson, who is not representing Australia in the World Cup this year, is far and away that country's best snooker player

Malta could be value to defeat Australia in Group D of the World Cup early on Thursday morning.

The oddsmakers make Alex Borg and Brian Cini only slight favourites and presumably expect more from Aussies Steve Mifsud and Ryan Thomerson.

But while Australia, in particular Thomerson, may be open to improvement, there's nobody down under with the ability to perform anywhere near the quality of Neil Robertson.

Borg will try his heart out for Malta and ought to win frames in a contest of this level, while prior to the second session on day two Cini was one of only five competitors in Wuxi to have made a century break.

Malta suffered 3-2 losses to China B and Switzerland in their two opening outings and this represents a good chance for them to notch a win.
