Classy cueist Yan Bingtao should ease through in Yushan

Yan Bingtao is one of the hottest young prospects on the tour and the 18-year-old Chinese player has a great chance of going deep into this week's World Open on home soil in Yushan.

He came through a scrappy qualifier against Ashley Carty but should have plenty of joy against his next opponent Stuart Carrington.

The dangerous Carrington is an attacking player who can score heavily. However, should this contest come down to the two trading blows with big breaks, Bingtao's class among the balls means he should run out a comfortable winner.

World number five Judd Trump has a terrible record in this event and is not traditionally a strong starter to the season.

Trump was whitewashed 5-0 by Sam Craigie in qualifying two years ago and last year he was dumped out in the last 32 by Zhang Anda after receiving a walkover in the previous round.

He remains one of the game's elite and should win but Trump may make hard work of it against Martin O'Donnell, who has twice pushed him to a final-frame decider in their four meetings.
