Warrington revival may continue against Hull

The last time Warrington travelled to Hull seven months ago, the Wolves won to claim the League Leaders Shield.

When Tony Smith’s team make this trip, the prize on offer is far more modest with victory hauling Wire out of the bottom four for their first time this season.

That will still be a significant step for a side who started the Betfred Super League season with six straight defeats.

Warrington’s revival started with a home draw against Lee Radford’s men when they rallied from 16 points behind to snatch a share of the spoils.

Four victories have followed but they have continued to offer up opportunities to their opponents. In the last fortnight the Wolves have beaten Wakefield and Huddersfield by two points.

They’re 9-5 to keep the run going and receive a six-point start on the handicap which looks an interesting proposition considering Hull have conceded over 50 points in two of their last three home outings.

The Black and Whites come into the game following a terrific win over league leaders Castleford in which they played almost an hour with 12 men after Liam Watts was sent off.

Watts is banned for this clash and the Airlie Birds are also missing injured hooker Danny Houghton.

The reigning Man of Steel’s absence could be exploited by Wolves counterpart Daryl Clark who returns from suspension.

The visitors also hope to welcome back forward Mike Cooper and winger Matty Russell from injury.

Russell scored a hat-trick against Hull four weeks ago and is 13-10 to notch at anytime and 12-1 with Paddy Power to open the tryscoring.

Elsewhere, St Helens are 1-4 to bounce back from their loss to basement boys Widnes when they host Leigh.

The Centurions beat Saints 24-16 at home in February but haven’t won on the road all year and are currently on a six-match losing streak.

St Helens are fancied to extend their opponents’ rocky run and win with something to spare.
