Leeds and Wigan have underperformed woefully this season and although both teams enjoyed crucial away wins last time out, the two Betfred Super League superpowers are still far too close to the bottom of the table for comfort.

However, such is the congested nature of the league ladder, the Rhinos and Warriors still harbour hopes of making the end-of-season playoffs by putting in a finishing flourish over the remaining 12 league fixtures.

Wigan are two points above Leeds, who are perilously positioned two points above the relegation spot currently occupied by London.

A trip to table-topping St Helens is next on the agenda for the Rhinos and their need for victory is arguably greater than their opponents.

Caretaker coach Richard Agar keeps faith with the side who ground out a 10-0 win at Wakefield in desperate conditions a week ago and the players may again have to contend with rain.

Leeds have a reasonable recent home record this season having won three of their last four at Headingley and although they can hardly be regarded as a reliable betting proposition, the hosts look worth chancing.

The visitors have won only three of their ten away games in 2019 – twice at Salford and at Hull KR last time out – and coach Adrian Lam is without former Leeds full-back Zak Hardaker due to a hamstring problem and forward Ben Flower due to a back injury.

The Warriors are also without Taulima Tautai after the prop’s conviction for drink-driving.

Wigan have won the last three meetings between these teams but this looks a good time to back Leeds to stop the rot.

St Helens were victims of the biggest shock of the season when they went down in golden-point extra-time to rock-bottom London last weekend and Justin Holbrook’s team are 1-6 to get back on track at home to Huddersfield.

Saints haven’t lost consecutive league games since September 2017 and have a host of stars returning after being rested against the Broncos.

Lachlan Coote, Jonny Lomax, Tommy Makinson, Zeb Taia and Alex Walmsley are all back, although James Roby is out with a groin problem.

Huddersfield are without ace winger Jermaine McGillvary through injury.

Saints have already beaten the Giants twice this year and can bounce back from the London loss to cover the 14-point line.
