Gavin Green opened with a 64 on his Czech Masters debut 12 months ago and the Malaysian powerhouse can be fancied to exit the gates smartly again at the Albatross Resort in Prague this week.

Green went on to finish third in that event – the best result of a bright rookie campaign – and he will approach this edition of the Czech Masters with enormous confidence. The rising star can boss his 12.25pm (UK and Ireland time) threeball against Adrian Otaegui and Darren Fichardt.

Green finished eighth in the Andalucia Masters at the end of June, then ninth next time out in the Irish Open. A missed cut in Scotland followed, but the youngster has been generally impressive and the Albatross suits him greatly.

Otaegui has Albatross form figures of 30-MC-MC, while Fichardt has missed five of his last seven cuts and missed the cut by seven shots in his only previous Albatross visit.
