1860 Munich v Jahn Regensburg
5pm Tuesday

Bavarian minnows Jahn Regensburg were kicking themselves for not winning the first leg of the Bundesliga 2 relegation playoff against 1860 Munich but they look more than capable of avoiding defeat at the Allianz Arena.

Friday’s clash in Regensburg finished 1-1 with the hosts missing a late penalty, taken by Stefan Ortega and saved by Andreas Geipl.

1860, who finished third from bottom of Bundesliga 2 and are on a run of only one win in nine matches, were certainly the happier of the two camps, but they really are a struggling outfit.

Ex-Porto boss Vitor Pereira hasn’t managed to turn the club’s fortunes around and veteran frontmen Sascha Molders and Ivica Olic are no great threat these days.

They must also play the second leg without centre-back Marin Pongracic who was sent off ten minutes from the end of the first tie.

Jahn Regensburg are a club back on the up under Heiko Herrlich, a Champions League winner with Dortmund in his playing days.

Regionalliga winners last season, they finished third in 3.Liga this term and were the top away scorers in their division.

The trip from Regensburg to Munich is little more than an hour and it’s one the outsiders should be relishing.

They have lost only one of their last ten, indeed they’ve suffered just three defeats since Christmas. Interestingly, they have managed only one clean sheet in 11 so there should be goals and 13-10 for over 2.5 looks the way to go.
