Theo Walcott ended his 12-year association with Arsenal yesterday by signing for Everton in a reported £20m deal.

After making just six substitute appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League this season, Walcott has fallen out of favour with England manager Gareth Southgate.

He has a maximum of 15 games to impress Southgate before the end of the season but the chances of an international recall appear slim with bet365 offering 8-1 about Walcott making the Three Lions' World Cup squad.

The signing was the second big January deal for the Toffees, who last week snapped up Turkish striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas for £27m.

Arsenal have been tipped to reinvest some of the money in Brazilian winger Malcom, who is facing disciplinary action from his club, Bordeaux.

Malcom angered his employers by appearing in a social media video laughing and joking with team-mates after the club's 2-0 loss at home to Caen on Saturday.

Martin O'Neill has successfully concluded contract talks with the Ireland FA shortly after turning down the chance to manage Premier League strugglers Stoke.

O'Neill and his assistant Roy Keane have agreed two-year extensions which will take them up to Euro 2020.

Sky Bet League One strugglers Southend are searching for a new manager after putting Phil Brown on gardening leave.

The Shrimpers board decided to act after a dismal run of seven losses in eight league games which leaves them club 18th - just two points above the drop zone.
