Match preview

Rayo Vallecano have made a modest start to life back in Spain's Segunda Division but they can give their promotion mission a boost by beating Malaga.

The visitors conducted some significant business in the last transfer window, adding experience to their rearguard with the signings of Luis Advincula and Esteban Saveljich.

The goals of Adrian Embarba, meanwhile, have helped to soften the blow of last term's top scorer Raul de Tomas returning to parent club Real Madrid before a permanent switch to Benfica.

Their two league wins against Deportivo La Coruna and Racing Santander came at home and they have taken a point from their two road games.

But Malaga are yet to win at home this season and, having failed to score more than once in each of their five second division games, they look worth opposing.

Los Boquerones lost a string of key loan players from last season, including Gustavo Leschuk and Alfred N'Diaye, and Victor Sanchez is yet to get the team firing after they narrowly missed out on promotion in 2018-19.

This is a different Malaga side to last season and they could be vulnerable at home, where they conceded a total 26 shots to opponents Almeria and Las Palmas.

Vallecano have the players in the final third to stir up trouble and are worth a draw-no-bet punt.
