Injury problems are mounting for Charlton

Last-minute betting advice for today's 3pm EFL kickoffs

Charlton v Shrewsbury
Charlton were still smarting from the loss of Jake Forster-Caskey for the season after the midfielder suffered a serious knee injury and they are also without key central defender Jason Pearce for today's visit of Shrewsbury.

Naby Sarr deputises for Lee Bowyer's side but he is not the most assured defender in Sky Bet League One and the Addicks could be vulnerable, particularly as confident youngster Ezri Konsa was sold to Brentford during the summer.

Shrewsbury have lost the services of their two top goalscorers from last season, Jon Nolan and Stefan Payne, but they are capable of making life difficult for Charlton, who they beat in both legs of their playoff semi-final last season.

Recommendation
Shrewsbury draw no bet
2pts 6-4 general

Newport v Crewe
Patched-up Newport are without defender Mark O'Brien and midfielder Robbie Willmott, which is not good news as they face on-fire Crewe in their first home game of the season in League Two.

Michael Flynn's Welsh outfit have been struggling with injuries and illness in the camp this week and there were fears that County would be unable to field the full complement of substitutes, especially as their academy team are touring abroad.

That situation hasn't materialised but, even though Crewe skipper George Ray is missing with a rib injury, the Railwaymen should build on their 6-0 home win over Morecambe last week.

Recommendation
Crewe
