Barcelona and Lincoln City are the next obstacles standing in the way of Chelsea as they hunt down the much-coveted Champions League-Football League Trophy double, and you can take the Londoners to keep at least one of those cups in sight by seeing off the Imps at Sincil Bank.

Chelsea Under-21s have grown into this tournament after squeezing through the group stage and look good enough to be able to repel no-nonsense Sky Bet League Two opposition.

One or two of their development squad stars will have been involved with the first team at Watford last night and it remains to be seen how coach Joe Edwards manages that situation.

But you can’t deny the fact that Chelsea’s bairns are buzzing courtesy of knockout stage successes at MK Dons (4-0), at Portsmouth (2-1) and against Oxford (3-0).

The Chelsea kids haven’t been brushed aside physically as one might have suspected would happen to a side made up primarily of teenagers. And technically they have looked superior to every side they have come up against.

Team In Focus

Lincoln City

Lincoln, who have only lost one of their last 14, are understandably favourites with boss Danny Cowley declaring the Football League Trophy a major target. And they’ve already beaten Everton's Under-21 side.

The downside for the Imps is that they gave everything fighting back to draw 2-2 against ten-man Swindon on Saturday and they go to Cambridge on Friday, a schedule that has got Cowley fuming.
