Match preview

A final home game of the season can sometimes galvanise a team as they aim to send their fans off on their holidays with a collective smile on their face.

But, of course, this year is different. There are no fans, no one is going on holiday and, as far as Norwich are concerned, there is precious little to smile about either.

Relegation for the Canaries was confirmed last week and while nice things have been said about their refusal to spend a fortune in the hope of staying at football's top table, their followers must be casting an eye towards Sheffield United and thinking that their team haven't really given it a good enough go.

It is an understatement to suggest City have gone down with a whimper.

They haven't claimed a single point since the league returned and quite often they haven't even looked like getting any.

Manager Daniel Farke has been hit by a collection of damaging injuries in the heart of his defence but it seems the team accepted their lot quite some time ago and their pain may not be over yet.

It will be a close-run thing as to whether they are the biggest underdogs of the season when they head to Manchester City next week, but Burnley should perhaps be shorter than 13-10 to win at Carrow Road.

The Clarets were thumped 5-0 on their own visit to the Etihad in their first game after the restart but their other matches have followed a familiar pattern - they haven't lost and there haven't been a lot of goals.

None of their six matches since that loss have featured more than two goals and they have had to ride their luck in their last couple of outings.

They became the first team of the season to earn anything from a trip to champions Liverpool following a fine performance from goalkeeper Nick Pope and were then gifted a fortunate late penalty to draw at home to Wolves.

But they have been disciplined enough to post 1-0 successes at West Ham and Crystal Palace in the last few weeks and while their distant hopes of a Europa League spot have been extinguished by Manchester City's FFP reprieve, they should beat a team who have scored just one goal in their last six league games.

Key stat

Norwich have lost ten of their last 11 Premier League matches
