Wednesday's Championship predictions

Coventry are in the bottom half of the Championship table but the underlying numbers tell a different story and they can pick up their fourth win of the season against Rotherham.

The Sky Blues ended the weekend with the fifth-best expected goal difference of any side in the division with a figure of +4.8, and they have been unfortunate not to turn a few of their six draws into victories.

By contrast the Millers sport an expected goal difference of -13.8, comfortably the worst in the second tier, and have lost seven of their 11 league games.

Matt Taylor’s side have conceded 22 goals in that time and against the team with the best defensive record in the bottom half, Rotherham look likely to fall to another defeat.

Birmingham and Hull are separated by just a point in a congested Championship table and the pair are fancied to put on an entertaining affair when they meet tonight.

Five of Hull’s six away games this season have seen three or more goals and they take on a Blues team who have been involved in a number of high-scoring affairs recently, with ten goals in their last three matches.

Take over 2.5 goals to land in what should be a competitive battle.
