Betting on the next Brighton manager after Chris Hughton is sacked
Graham Potter red-hot favourite to take over in Seagulls hotseat
Graham Potter is the red-hot favourite to become Brighton's next manager after Chris Hughton was sacked.
Potter, who led Ostersunds to the Europa League knockout stages before guiding Swansea out of potentially choppy waters in this season's Sky Bet Championship, has earned a reputation for getting teams to play fluid football on limited resources.
Potter is a 1-3 shot to replace Hughton with Frank Lampard and Phil Neville next on the list at 10-1.
Hughton gained promotion at Albion and kept them in the top flight for two seasons, also leading them to the FA Cup semi-finals this season.
However, they finished 17th and only just survived their relegation dogfight, finishing two points above Cardiff.
Chairman Tony Bloom told Brighton's official website: "Chris has done an excellent job over the past four-and-a-half years. First stabilising our club, reaching the playoffs in his first full season, securing our first ever promotion to the Premier League, and retaining our status in two successive seasons.
"Undoubtedly, this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make as chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion, but ultimately one I have made due to how we struggled in the second half of the season.
"Our run of three wins from 23 Premier League matches put our status at significant risk. It is with that in mind, and the performances during that period, that I now feel it’s the right time for a change.
"Chris will always be very fondly remembered by Albion staff and fans as one of our club’s finest and most-respected managers."
