It's well worth having some bread on Scott Baker to trouble Glenn Durrant

Glen Durrant's bid to match Eric Bristow’s three successive BDO world titles is up and running following a routine demolition of Mark McGrath – but now it gets trickier.

Durrant needed just 12 legs to beat McGrath, although the defending champion and tournament favourites was never going to be troubled by the Kiwi.

What was more of a concern for Duzza is that he banged in an impressive seven maximums yet still averaged less than 94, which tells us there was a fair bit of loose stuff in there as well.

First-match nerves are bound to be a factor and the Middlesbrough fan should improve for the run.

But so too will opponent Scott Baker, who definitely has the game to make Durrant work hard for the victory.

Baker, buzzing after whitewashing 15th seed Ross Montgomery, is a 6-1 chance to depose the champ but is well worth an interest getting 2.5 sets on the handicap. He's 6-4 with Betfair to cover the spread.

Baker went to Frimley Green after a good year with a couple of tournament wins and he beat Durrant the last time they met, in the England Open in June.

The men's second round concludes with a couple of matches where the favourites are hard to overlook. Kyle McKinstry has looked a good player for a while and is finally realising his talent – he should have too much for David Cameron.

And finally 2015 champion Scott Mitchell, impressive in his opener against Oliver Ferenc, can take care of Krzysztof Kciuk.

Recommendation
S Baker +2.5 sets
1pt 6-4 Betfair
