Second Twenty20 international

Zimbabwe will be relieved to hear that South Africa are resting Imran Tahir for the second and third Twenty20 internationals but they are still 6-1 outsiders in Potchefstroom.

Tahir took ten wickets at an average of nine in three ODIs before claiming 5-23 to rip the heart out of the Zimbabwe batting line-up in the first T20 clash.

The underdogs played well in patches, restricting the Proteas to 160-6 before Peter Moor (44 off 21 balls) and Brandon Mavuta (28 off 14) gave South Africa a scare late on.

Solomon Mire missed the first game after struggling in the ODIs but he has a fine Twenty20 record and could make an impact if recalled.

Mire made 27 and 94 against Pakistan and 28 and 63 against Australia in July’s 20-over tri-series and he is a dangerous hitter at the top of the order.
