Start 10.30am

Somerset and Middlesex were involved in a thrilling end to the title race in Division One of the County Championship last summer but this year survival is at stake when the teams meet at Taunton.

With Warwickshire already down, Somerset are in grave danger of filling the second relegation spot and they start the final round of fixtures 13 points adrift of third-bottom Hampshire on 140.

Middlesex are on 143 points and Yorkshire, evens draw no bet to win at champions Essex, are two points better off.

Somerset will need other results to go their way but they are 4-5 to keep up their side of the bargain by beating a Middlesex side missing Toby Roland-Jones, who looks set to miss the Ashes because of a stress fracture to his back.

Somerset were beaten by Surrey last time out and the men from The Oval could finish the season with a win at Lancashire.

The Red Rose were blown away by Middlesex's Steven Finn in their last outing and Surrey, up to second in the table, can give Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara the perfect send-off in his final first-class match.

In Division Two, Worcestershire hold a six-point lead over Nottinghamshire. They are at home to Durham while Notts face a more testing fixture at Sussex.
