Boxing: Amir Khan v Billy Dib betting preview, tips and TV details

Billy Dib said he thought it was a joke when the chance to fight Amir Khan in the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah was offered to him and it looks to be just that in terms of a competitive contest.

Dib is a featherweight by trade and claimed the IBF world title at that weight in his prime. However, the Aussie is stepping up to welterweight for this clash against Khan and there have to be major doubts about Dib at this weight.

The Kid won his world title in 2012 but since then he has been beaten twice by the solid, but nothing more, Evgeny Gradovich, dismantled by Takashi Miura at super-feather and most recently completely dominated by Tevin Farmer. Dib announced his retirement after the loss to Farmer, so you have to wonder how much is left in the tank, even if you ignore the huge physical advantages Khan is likely to enjoy.

The Bolton fighter takes plenty of stick mainly due to his pre- and post-fight comments but his record speaks for itself. Khan has lost five times in a high-level career but those defeats have come against elite-level fighters including Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez. Dip isn't even in their weight class, never mind on terms when it comes to boxing ability, and you can expect an early finish from Khan.

The layers haven't missed much by making King Khan a 1-25 shot to win the fight and 1-5 to win by knockout but perhaps the 10-11 on offer about the fight lasting under 5.5 rounds is a little overpriced. Khan doesn't boast spectacular one-punch power but he can easily overwhelm opponents with speed and volume and that looks likely to happen to Dib.

H Fury v S Peter

Hughie Fury is looking to get back into a buzzing heavyweight scene and he can make short work of Samuel Peter.

Joseph Parker outpointed Fury when the pair clashed for the WBO world title in 2017 and the Manchester man also lost on the scorecards against Kubrat Pulev in October. However, Fury knocked out Sam Sexton to claim the British title in between those defeats and should have far too much for Peter. It's worth remembering that Fury is only 24 and his best may still be ahead of him.

Peter endured an almighty scrap against Wladimir Klitschko in 2005 before being beaten by Vitali Klitschko in 2008. Wladimir repeated the trick in 2010 and Pulev stopped the Las Vegas resident in three rounds in 2016.

Since then the Nigerian Nightmare has had just three low-key fights but was beaten by the limited Mario Heredia earlier this year.

Fury will be looking to put on a show to line up some bigger fights in the future and even-money about the fight lasting no more than five rounds looks generous.
