Monday betting preview
The Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 continues on Monday with another double header as Group B runners-up Guinea take on Group F runners-up Gambia before debutants Comoros lock horns with tournament hosts Cameroon.
Guinea v Gambia
Guinea's midfield quality alone may be enough to convince some punters to back them in the last 16 but Gambia have exceeded expectations in Cameroon and should not be underestimated.
Crucially, Guinea will be missing Naby Keita for this contest with the Liverpool man suspended after picking up two yellow cards in the group stage.
And that will not aid a side who lost their final group match by a 2-1 scoreline against Zimbabwe.
Gambia, meanwhile, beat Mauritania and shocked Tunisia either side of a respectable draw with Mali in Group F to progress to the knockout phase.
They could be dangerous opponents against weakened Guinea and look a great bet to avoid defeat.
Cameroon v Comoros
Minnows Comoros have captured the hearts of spectators in their debut Afcon tournament, having secured their spot in the knockout phase with a shock 3-2 win over Ghana in their final group assignment.
But unfortunately for them they will run into the tournament hosts Cameroon in the last 16 and their Afcon campaign is likely to come to a shuddering end.
Covid has ripped through the Comoros camp where there are 12 reported cases, including coach, Amir Abdou, but the real issue comes in goal where the remaining two fit goalkeepers are also said to be unavailable, joining injured first-choice cat, Salim Ben Boina on the sidelines.
Rules state if a team can name 11 fit players they must play the match to leave an already daunting task looking nigh on impossible for the continent's minnows.
Cameroon flexed their scoring muscle in 2-1 and 4-1 wins over Burkina Faso and Ethiopia respectively before a draw with Cape Verde and forward Vincent Aboubakar was key to their success.
Aboubakar, who captains Cameroon, has netted in all three of their matches at the tournament and is 1-8 in places to finish as Afcon 2021 top scorer.
He looks unstoppable right now and is a decent bet at 12-5 to break the deadlock against Comoros.
