Royal Ascot Thursday: ITV Racing tips
Our Spotlight experts select their best bets for day three of Royal Ascot
2.30 Ascot
Norfolk Stakes, Group 2, 5f, ITV4
The market has been a reliable guide to this juvenile speed test with just two double-figure priced winners in the last ten years.
US trainer Wesley Ward has a grip on the market with debut winners Lucci and Nakatomi as he seeks a third success in the race. Also prominent in the betting is Aidan O'Brien's sole contender Cadamosto, a son of 2013 winner No Nay Never.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Cadamosto
Won going away on 5f Dundalk debut last month; smart prospect for top stable
Royal Ascot day three tips: Paul Kealy's banker
Hampton Court Stakes, Group 3, 1m2f, ITV4
William Haggas will be keeping an eye on the forecast thunderstorms for favourite Mohaafeth, who was a late non-runner in the Derby due to the ground.
The son of Frankel has won all three starts this season, most recently landing a five-length success over the reopposing Secret Protector in the Newmarket Stakes.
Derby sixth One Ruler could have a part to play dropping back in trip and Aidan O'Brien bids for a third success in four years with Dante fourth Roman Empire.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Mohaafeth
Cruised to impressive Listed victory at Newmarket and has leading claims today
Ribblesdale Stakes, Group 2, 1m4f, ITV4
Noon Star will be seeking compensation after missing the Oaks due to a blood disorder.
The Juddmonte-owned filly was a respectable second to Snowfall in the Musidora at York and that form received a big boost when the winner bolted up at Epsom.
The form of the Oaks will be tested by third-placed Divinely, while Newbury Filles' Trial first and second Eshaada and Gloria Mundi renew rivalry.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Noon Star
Near-4l second in the Musidora, behind Snowfall who subsequently bolted up in the Oaks
The Punt Daily: best bets from Tom Collins on day three of Royal Ascot
A place in history awaits Stradivarius as the supreme stayer aims to equal Yeats's record tally of four victories in the royal meeting showpiece.
A winner of 17 of his 27 starts, Stradivarius won this race last year by ten lengths on soft ground and faces a new set of challengers this time, which are led by last year's Group 1 Prix Royal-Oak winner Subjectivist.
Aidan O'Brien, trainer of the mighty Yeats, will look to spoil the Stradivarius party with a trio of contenders including by last year's Derby hero Serpentine.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Twilight Payment
What he's done at 2m, including 2020 Melbourne Cup win, makes this sort of trip appealing
5.00 Ascot
Britannia Stakes, 1m, ITV4
Mithras, the mount of the irrepressible Frankie Dettori, could be the required Group horse masquerading as a handicapper for the powerful John and Thady Gosden stable.
Few jockeys ride Ascot's straight course as well as Jamie Spencer, who has leading claims on hat-trick seeker Air To Air. Raadobarg, who is on a four-timer, Horoscope and Royal Pleasure are others worth noting in a typically ultra-competitive contest.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Mithras
Looked progressive until failing in a Listed race last time, for which there were excuses
Royal Ascot tips: five horses to back on day three of the royal meeting
King George V Stakes, 1m4f, ITV4
Sir Lamorak, a one-time Derby candidate for Ballydoyle, is set to make his first start since racking up his second victory of the season in a handicap at Leopardstown in April.
Aidan O'Brien also sends out Sir William Bruce and San Martino, while last-time-out winners First Light, Surefire, Nagano and Siskany also feature in the 18-runner line-up.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Sir Lamorak
Came from behind to win well in Leopardstown h'cap (1m2f, good) in April; major interest
Who is Frankie Dettori riding on day three at Royal Ascot on Thursday?
Buckingham Palace Stakes, 7f, ITV4
This race was brought back to life last year as part of the expanded schedule and remains this year, having been scrapped after the 2014 running.
Big ratings riser Boardman, winner of his last three starts for Tim Easterby, comes here rather than Saturday's Wokingham and Aldaary returns to Ascot after an impressive victory over course and distance on his penultimate start.
The race is renowned for shocks, so do not discount those at big prices.
SPOTLIGHT TIP: Danyah
Generally kept pace with the assessor since handicapping; strongly run 7f could suit
