Icing on the cake for owner as Get It provides him with a birthday winner
Monday: Bath
Owner Andrew Cohen received the perfect birthday present from trainer Clive Cox after his former classy juvenile Get It made a winning return to the track with a brave success in the 5f handicap.
The son of Twilight Son finished a close fourth in the Windsor Castle Stakes as a juvenile at Royal Ascot before losing his way, but he bounced back to his best to put the icing on the cake for his owner with a three-quarter-length victory under John Fahy.
Cox said: "I'm really pleased as it was such a well-received result. He's a horse who's always shown a lot of promise right from being a juvenile.
"Things didn't work out last year, but it's not unusual for a horse to lose his way and he's hopefully back on track with some confidence."
Cox also hailed the gelding operation as instrumental to salvaging Get It's career, having played his part in a nasty accident last season.
"I think that's had a part to play as unfortunately himself and Liam Keniry had a bad accident at Ascot last year and he broke his leg," he added.
"We felt with everything moving together that he's now got the potential to rebuild again after a success like that. He's a proper five-furlong horse."
Boughey beaming again
George Boughey revealed he remains on cloud-nine following his Classic glory in the 1,000 Guineas with Cachet after Aryaah's convincing win in the 1m2f handicap.
He said: "It's back to reality now from such a good day. It's a pretty surreal feeling at the moment."
