The Briefing: going news and expert advice on a top-class day of racing

Two down, one to go. Cheltenham hosts the final day of the November meeting and a number of festival clues are likely to emerge.

The Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle (3.00) will perhaps provide the greatest spectacle, although the Racing Post Arkle Trial Novices' Chase (1.50), Shloer Chase (2.25) and Sky Bet Supreme Trial Novices' Hurdle (3.30) definitely deserve their fair share of the spotlight on the card.

It is not all about Cheltenham, though, as the Unibet Morgiana Hurdle (2.15) at Punchestown could well grab most of the headlines, particularly given the star power of jumping heavyweights Faugheen and Samcro, who are set to clash for the first time if the latter's trainer Gordon Elliott is satisfied with the going.

Cork also hosts a meeting, but you have to feel a little sorry for Fontwell, which gets a rare slot on terrestrial television for the Southern National (2.40) but has to share the limelight with Cheltenham and Punchestown on one of its biggest days.

The races at Cheltenham will have big implications for the rest of the season and the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown will go a long way to determining the paths of Faugheen and Samcro. It should be box office stuff.
