Chris Wall is one of the most astute placers of horses and that is no surprise taking into account he was once assistant trainer to Luca Cumani and Sir Mark Prescott.

Wall’s skill has been showcased over the last 12 months by his handling of Goldie Hawk, a four-year-old handicapper who boasts five wins from eight starts during this period.

Goldie Hawk idles in front, which makes it difficult for the assessor to pin her down, and stablemate Glen Esk is similar in that he seems to do only just enough.

Winner of his last three starts – two over course and distance – the son of Kyllachy has been raised only 8lb for that successful spree. He has gone up just 3lb for his last two triumphs and still appears to have significant handicapping scope off a mark of 71.

Fast ground is ideal for Glen Esk and four-year-olds have landed all four runnings of this race – including the Wall-trained Black Lotus two years ago – since its inception in 2017. He should prove hard to beat.

The year-older Lady Reset is another who arrives at the top of her game having pipped See The Sea by a head over hurdles at Stratford last month, and has won four of her nine starts on Flat turf.

Prince Of Harts, successful off a mark of 83 over a mile at this course in October 2019, is now 2lb lower and has the assistance of champion jockey Oisin Murphy.

He ran well when third to Bad Company at Sandown last time, leaving the impression his turn is near.

Maori Knight, who produced a solid effort in 0-95 company at Glorious Goodwood last time, must also enter calculations off a 1lb lower mark.

What they say

Chris Wall, trainer of Glen Esk
He's a had a great summer, winning his last three. He won't want the ground to dry up too much. It's goodish ground this morning and I think they're going to throw a bit of water on. He's up in class but he's earned the right to do that, so we're hoping he can make his presence felt.

Rod Millman, trainer of Prince Of Harts
He was always a nice horse when we had him before and it's just taken him a while to settle back into the yard. I'm hoping for a good run and its obviously great to have Oisin Murphy on board. We wouldn't want it to get too fast but he should go well on what it is now. He's won at Windsor before, albeit on heavy ground.

Luke Dace, trainer of Galactic Glow
He's frustrating because he's got a lot more talent that he's shown so far. Last time was more encouraging as he was ridden perfectly but he still didn't finish off his race all that well. Hopefully, the step up in trip will help him. He could win from seven furlongs up to a mile and three on his current rating if he put his best foot forward and really tried.
