Moore's unexposed Fox can show Swift progress with the help of blinkers

Grey Waters
2.15 Lingfield

Grey Waters has been in good form over hurdles this season but she looks well treated on her return to the level and can score here.

Joseph O’Brien’s filly won on the Flat as recently as November over this trip at Kempton and she appears to have the scope to go further in this sphere.

She is two from five over hurdles and even finished a creditable fourth behind some Triumph hopefuls in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown last time, an effort which suggests she should be capable of winning off a much higher mark on the Flat than her rating of 64.

Author’s Dream was an impressive winner at Wolverhampton last time but the handicapper has put him up 10lb for that, which puts him on 6lb worse terms than when third to Grey Waters at Kempton in November.

Comragh
3.35 Ludlow

Although she has been off the track for 582 days, it might still be worth chancing Comragh in this mares’ handicap on her reappearance.

With just four starts to her name, Jeremy Scott’s eight-year-old is open to improvement and, while she finished well beaten on both starts since joining her current yard, she looks well treated judged on her Ayr maiden hurdle success for Stuart Crawford a couple of seasons ago.

She was fortunate to score on that occasion as the likely winner Caledonia came down at the last when in front but Comragh was well clear of the remainder. Caledonia was rated as high as 123 and those who finished from second to sixth were rated between 93 and 112. That suggests Comragh’s current mark of 103 is workable and it’s worth chancing her fitness.

Swift Fox
3.25 Lingfield

Gary Moore’s three-year-old has shown a bit more on his last couple of starts thanks to the application of blinkers and it’s an obvious plus that the headgear remains in place.

The least exposed runner in the field, he tackles older, exposed rivals for the first time.

His last run was a particularly encouraging one as he finished fourth behind Magic Pulse, beaten a shade over two lengths.

Bearing in mind that was just his sixth start, he is entitled to still be improving and it wouldn’t take much for him to get involved here.

Sophie Gray
3.55 Lingfield

Sophie Gray never threatened victory on her debut when seventh of nine in a mile novice stakes here last month but that doesn’t tell the whole story and she can prove the point with victory here.

John Gosden’s filly got herself detached from the pack following a very slow start but she stayed on nicely in the closing stages to pick off a couple of rivals, suggesting that she would progress a fair bit once stepping up in trip.

That is also backed up by her pedigree which does boast stamina, particularly on the dam’s side, while it’s obvious to assume that improvement will be forthcoming if breaking on better terms.
