Charlie Longsdon is lethal at this time of year, and his Hannibal The Great rates a value alternative to short-priced favourite Definite Future in Huntingdon’s 2m4f novices’ limited handicap chase.

The eight-year-old showed plenty of ability at the beginning of his career, his three wins under Rules including a smooth five-length dismissal of the now 138-rated chaser Little Jon over hurdles at Southwell in December 2013.

Although lightly raced since, fitness won’t be an issue with a runner from this yard, and the Irish point winner’s long-term future has always been as a chaser.
